How It Works
Improved Windows Search is Microsoft's AI-powered search system for Windows Copilot+ devices. Using on-device NPU processing, the system understands natural language queries to find files, apps, emails, and content across the device. Unlike traditional keyword search, the AI interprets intent, context, and semantic meaning. The system indexes content locally for fast, private search without cloud dependency.

AI Processing Flow
Search queries are processed by on-device NPU models for natural language understanding. Semantic indexing uses AI to understand document content and context. The local index is maintained continuously. All processing is on-device without cloud upload. Search history is stored locally and can be cleared by the user.
