Super Steady
Samsung Galaxy Super Steady uses Galaxy AI-powered video stabilization to deliver smooth, shake-free recordings even during high-motion activities on Galaxy devices.
Why It Exists
Users need stable professional-looking video without gimbals, stabilizers, or expensive equipment, especially during active or handheld shooting.
How It Works
Galaxy Super Steady is Samsung's AI-powered video stabilization system that eliminates camera shake and motion blur from videos. Using on-device NPU processing and the device's gyro sensors, the system analyzes motion patterns and applies real-time digital image stabilization. The AI can distinguish between intentional motion and unwanted shake, preserving creative camera movement while eliminating jitter.
Everyday Use Cases
- Handheld video stabilization
- Action camera footage
- Vlog recording
- Sports recording
- Walking shots
- Vehicle-mounted video
User Workflow
- User records video with Super Steady enabled
- AI tracks motion using gyro and visual data
- System digitally stabilizes each frame in real-time
- Motion blur is reduced using frame interpolation
- Smooth video is saved with enhanced stability
AI Processing Flow
Gyroscope and accelerometer data are processed by on-device NPU models in real-time. Visual motion tracking identifies the subject and background movement separately. Digital stabilization crops and shifts frames to compensate for shake. Frame interpolation fills in gaps during fast motion. Motion blur reduction uses temporal filtering. All processing is real-time on the NPU.
Inputs / Outputs
Inputs:
- Video frames
- Gyroscope data
- Accelerometer data
- Motion tracking
- Subject position
- Frame timestamps
Outputs:
- Stabilized video
- Reduced shake
- Minimized motion blur

- Consistent framing
- Enhanced clarity
Known Limitations
- Heavy cropping reduces field of view
- Battery drain is higher than standard recording
- May not fully eliminate extreme shake
- Processing delay in very low light
Unsupported Scenarios
- Real-time streaming stabilization
- 4K stabilization
- Slow-motion stabilization
- Timelapse with stabilization
- Multi-axis stabilization
