How It Works
The Gemini Nano Assistant processes voice commands and generates responses entirely on Pixel devices using on-device AI models. It provides instant voice recognition, smart reply suggestions, contextual app actions, and multilingual support. Unlike cloud-based assistants, the Gemini Nano Assistant handles basic queries locally for maximum privacy and speed. Complex questions can optionally route to cloud-based Gemini models for enhanced responses. The system supports natural conversation with follow-up context and integrates deeply with Pixel hardware for optimized performance.

AI Processing Flow
Speech audio is captured by microphones and processed by the on-device Gemini Nano speech recognition model. Natural language understanding runs on the Tensor G3 or G4 NPU. For local tasks, the response is generated entirely on-device. For complex queries requiring more reasoning, the request is optionally sent to Google's cloud Gemini models with user permission. Responses are synthesized using on-device or cloud text-to-speech.
